takes us back to 1982 with Emile de Antonio’s portrayal of the Plowshares 8 civil disobedience at General Electric’s nuclear weapons plant in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The defendants play themselves. Martin Sheen plays the judge in the movie.
This is the first plowshares trials. Since then, more than hundreds plowshares groups have used hammers to disarm weapons in the U.S., Sweden, Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand and Australia.
17 May 1968, 9 people walked into a Selective Service Office, took hundreds of draft files for the Vietnam war from a cabinet, brought them outside, doused them with homemade napalm and burned them for nonviolence and civil disobedience.
